District 2420
District 2420 is one of the major districts of Turkey. It is located on the Marmara Region. D2420 consists of 50 clubs and contains over 1500 Rotaractors. District and Clubs make their projects according to the motto: “Service Above Self” by Rotary. D2420 have realized a lot of significant projects, such as:
Vocalization of over a hundred books for blind people,
A beautiful park for disabled children,
Our traditional long-weekend; Route Istanbul,
Providing Supplies for martyrs' families,
Providing books and school gear for poor children,
Arranging conferences about Europeon Union ,
Making a huge festival for disabled children,
Planting a forest to fight against Global Warming,
Vaccinating over 500 children against Hepatitis-B
Three primary schools, a high school, a school for the deaf and a shelter for children, who live in the streets,
District 2420 Rotaractors have long been known with a history of accomplishments as well as succesful arrangement of conferences, some of which are:
Hosting the 1991 E.E.M.A. Rotaract conference and later Interota 1996 in Istanbul, Turkey with delightful organizations which received many compliments from the attendees;
One Past District Rotaract Representative serving as a founding member of Multidistrict Information Organization of Rotaract Europe (formerly known as E.R.I.C.)
D2420; bestowing the gift of World Rotaract Day to the Rotaract world via submission of initial proposal of World Rotaract Day in 1989, which is followed by admittance of proposal in 1991.
Numerous Outstanding Project Awards, BESP’s, Presidential Citations and World Rotaract Week Celebration Recognitions granted to various Rotaract Clubs in the district. D2420 is also chosen as the district for Presidential Citation and World Rotaract Week Celebration Recognition.
